Even my anxiety has anxiety. The many faces of living with anxieties.

Even my anxiety has anxiety. The many faces of living with anxieties. Most of us know what anxiety feels like. It is normal to some extent. But it can be debilitating and make you feel hopeless and desperate. Honestly, anxiety is one of the worst things you can feel.

You become agitated and suddenly feel like you can’t be anywhere. Your heart rate speeds up, and you can't breathe. But there's actually nothing going on outside. “What's happening to me?" You might be thinking. Well, my friend, maybe it's anxiety. And we know that fighting that is not easy. It can be a complete challenge. That's why in today's blog, we'll talk about the many aspects of living with anxiety. Are you ready? Keep reading!

What is anxiety?

Anxiety is a feeling of nervousness, worry, or unease. As we mentioned above, it can be normal (until a certain point). Most people feel it from time to time. Maybe before a job interview or meeting someone for the first time. However, it can be a mental health disorder when anxiety becomes persistent.

It can be a real problem. There are also many types of anxiety, which can worsen if you don’t treat them with a mental health professional. We always recommend you to go to a therapist; don’t keep it to yourself!

Here are some of the types of anxiety:

Generalized anxiety disorder

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a condition of excessive worry about everyday issues and situations. It can last longer than six months. It isn't easy to live with, so if you have GAD, we understand you. Trust us. This person behind the screen writing this to you also suffers from it.

In addition to feeling worried and stressed, you may also experience restlessness, irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and muscle tension, among other symptoms. If you feel this way, we strongly recommend that you consult a mental health professional so you can get the help you need and deserve.

But do I have generalized anxiety disorder or just anxiety? Simple answer. Anxious people worry about things that make them nervous or other things that make them fearful. On the other hand, people with generalized anxiety disorder tend to describe themselves as "always worrying about everything all the time." If this describes you, it may be more than just ordinary anxiety.

Panic disorder

Panic disorder is another type of anxiety that is characterized by panic attacks and sudden fear. Although everyone experiences panic and fear from time to time, it becomes a problem when it happens for no apparent reason, making people feel stressed and scared most of the time. We know that panic attacks are basically hell. That's why we at EGOPROOF are here to help you.

Some symptoms of panic disorder are anxiety and panic. If you don't know what a panic attack feels like or are experiencing one, let us tell you what it feels like:

  • A racing heartbeat
  • Feeling like you’ll faint
  • Sweating
  • Nausea
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Trembling
  • Chills
  • Hot flushes
  • Dizziness
  • Feelings of numbness or pins and needles
  • Feeling of dread or fear of dying

And those are just some of them. When to get help? If panic attacks start happening regularly and you can’t go through your routine normally, consider contacting a mental health professional.

Social anxiety disorder

Social anxiety is very common, and it can be very debilitating. It presents an intense fear of being watched and judged by others. It can significantly affect your daily life, such as your usual activities and job or school performance. It can even affect your relationships. People with this disorder and other anxiety disorders tend to isolate themselves, which can make it even worse and hard to keep friends. But the fear is not easy to overcome.

Living with anxiety is one of the most difficult things one has to go through. So, if you have it, know that you are very brave, and we are glad you keep going and are still here. It gets better, we promise.

Agoraphobia

Finally, we will talk about agoraphobia. Sometimes, it can happen due to a panic disorder. This disorder involves avoiding situations where you may feel trapped, frightened, and desperate. People with agoraphobia tend to avoid situations where they have little or no control.

In general, agoraphobia may be related to a fear of places where many people are present. These situations include open spaces, public transportation, shopping malls, and crowds. Affected individuals will go to great lengths to avoid situations that trigger this disorder. In some severe cases, people with this condition may be unable to leave the house. Believe me, I've been there. I couldn't leave the house for months.

How does it feel like living with anxiety?

As mentioned, anxiety can be a debilitating disease. You feel trapped and like there is no escape at any point, as if you have no other choice. The fear never goes away, no matter what you do. You try to breathe, meditate, or even go for a walk. But nothing helps, and you start to feel hopeless. "When will this end?" you think.

It's best to avoid many situations so you don't trigger the anxiety. You're missing a lot of things. It is very frustrating, so you start isolating yourself. You lose friends and wonderful things because of this illness. And you know that isolation won't help, it will actually make the situation worse. But you may feel that there is nothing more you can do because the fear is so big. So you stay in bed all day doing nothing.

This eventually leads to depression, which is another mental illness. You start falling apart gradually, and everything seems to turn dark in your life. You stopped going out, drinking coffee, being out in the sun, having fun, and leaving your bed. Those are the many faces of living with anxiety.

Consider getting help so you can feel better. We know it’s hard, but you got this. See you on the next blog.
